Interactive Citation Workstation 2009

This Workstation and The Interactive Citation Workbook for ALWD Citation Manual (ALWD Workbook) [ISBN 9781422429587] or The Interactive Citation Workbook for The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (Bluebook Workbook) [ISBN 9781422429570] will help you learn the citation rules you will use most frequently when you clerk for a law firm or a court and, later, practice law. You will also become comfortable with The ALWD Citation Manual: A Professional System of Citation (3rd ed.) (ALWD) or The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (18th ed.) (Bluebook) as a reference guide for finding citation rules.

Each chapter in the ALWD Workbook or The Bluebook Workbook introduces and explains how to use the citation rules for that exercise, demonstrates by example how the rules are used, and gives a checklist for drafting citations for the exercise. You may find it helpful to read the questions and write down the answers in your Workbook before starting an online ALWD or Bluebook exercise. [Note: You can complete each online exercise only once. However, after a completed exercise has been submitted, you may return to that exercise to practice as often as you wish.]

The first time that you use the Workstation, you are required to complete the Online Intro Quiz. The Quiz will help you become familiar with the Workstation functionality. You may take the Quiz multiple times; the results are not saved.

Note regarding typeface: Underlining or underscoring is not available as an alternative to italics. Also, the format of the Bluebook exercise answers is based on The Bluepages, a how-to guide for basic legal citation. You will need to consult the rules (printed on white pages) and the tables (printed on white paper with a blue border) in The Bluebook when preparing your citation answers but should always format your answers according to The Bluepages. B13 ("In every type of legal writing [other than law reviews and other journals], you will use the simple conventions used throughout The Bluepages.").
